Patricia M. Amidon, MAI

Patricia M. Amidon, MAI, President and Founder of Amidon Appraisal Company, has been active as a real estate appraiser since 1983 when she began working as a researcher and office staff for an MAI appraiser.  She founded Amidon Appraisal Company in March of 1991 and achieved the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in January 1992.  Prior to working in the appraisal field, Ms. Amidon was employed as an editor, writer, and public relations specialist.  She specializes in the valuation of complex properties; financial analysis; in depth research and analysis of comparable sales, leases, and expense data of income-producing properties; litigation; highest and best use analysis; supply and demand analysis; and impact studies.

Ms. Amidon has qualified as an expert witness before Maine Superior Court, US District Court, the Maine State Board of Tax Appeal, US Bankruptcy Court, New Hampshire Board of Tax and Land Appeal, the Cumberland County Commissioners, and the York County Commissioners.  She has also presented expert testimony before numerous town boards concerning tax abatement and the impact of telecommunications towers and equipment on the value of real estate.

In addition to guiding the company through the ebb and flow of changing economic times and appraising, Ms. Amidon writes a monthly article for the New England Real Estate Journal and has taught appraisal courses and seminars.  She currently serves on the Government Relations Committee of the Appraisal Institute.  She is a certified general appraiser in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.  She served as the 2002 President of the Maine Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and received the chapter’s service award in 1996 and 1999.

Ms. Amidon completed all the course requirements for the MAI designation prior to receiving her designation in 1992.  A requirement for maintaining state certification in Maine is the completion of 28 hours of continuing education, 7 hours of which must be a Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) course every two years.  Recent education offerings completed by Ms. Amidon are as follows:

Brendan P. Hall, BS

Brendan P. Hall graduated from Bentley College in May of 2004 and has appraised in Maine since January 2006.  Prior employment experiences for Brendan Hall include computer hardware brokering and environmentally concious recycling, B.S.A. High Adventure Guide, and community outreach educator.

Robert H. Ball, BS

Robert graduated from the State University of New York Ranger School with an Associates Degree in Forest Technology in 2003. Robert continued his education at the main campus of SUNY ESF and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Forest Resource Management in 2005. While attending school, Robert worked for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation conducting forest health surveys and Maine High Adventure as a canoe guide. After graduation Robert worked in the U.S. Forest Service’s Wildland Fire Management Division, and in October 2005 transitioned to Hancock Land Company as a Land Management Forester. In the spring of 2007 Robert joined Titcomb Associates of Falmouth, Maine as a field surveyor. Robert has completed all required classes to take the LSIT exam. In December 2008 Robert joined Integrated Forest Management as a Land Management Forester. Robert is currently a Licensed Intern Forester, preparing to take the Licensed Forester exam in 2010. In April 2010 Robert Joined Amidon Appraisal as a Registered Appraisal Trainee specializing in Conservation Easements.
